Clay Wheel Camp
Clay Camp 3pm-6pm: This camp is a step by step instruction camp about how to create pottery on a clay wheel. All campers will meet at A Colorful Universe from 3pm to 6pm.Camp is about the experience, not the final outcome. We will provide all the tools and clay that is needed, and will have one councilor for this camp. This camp is limited to a max of 4 campers total. Each day your child will learn a new technique on the wheel.
Monday: Campers will learn the basics. They will learn how to center, open, and pull up the walls on clay to make a bowl.
Tuesday: Campers will learn sgraffito. They will make plates and place colored slip (colored wet clay) onto of the plate they have made and use a carving tool to make a design based on the theme of camp that week.
Wednesdays: Campers will be combining the two techniques from Monday and Tuesday, by making a chip n dip. They will use their hands to make a plate and then a bowl right in the center of the plate they have just made.
Thursday: Campers will create a mug along with a handle, but they will not be attaching the handle until Friday.
Friday: Campers will then be taught how to trim the clay pieces they have made perviously, learn how to score and attach the handle to the mug your child has created. This is a brand new camp we are offering this year so you won’t want to miss out. Limited spots available, sign up today!
