Pottery PaintingEach child is provided with a mug, plate, or bowl and other painting supplies. The theme of their painting will correlate with the story they were read. They use water based and non-toxic paints to paint their piece. Although paints do come out of clothes, we provide aprons for your little ones. Once they are done, you leave their piece with us and we fire it in our Kiln which makes the paint shiny and permanent. We fire our pieces every Monday and pick up is ready Thursday after 2pm.
Clay SculptingClay Sculpting is a fun way your child you can build with their hands! Each child is provided with clay and other clay supplies. After they are done sculpting, they will leave their clay pieces with us. We have to let the clay dry for a week before we can fire it. In addition, we fire on the 5th and 20th of each month. Once the clay is fired, you can come back and paint your piece for a $6 studio fee which includes pottery paints and a second firing or you can paint your clay pieces at home using acrylic paints. Disclaimer: Clay sculpting is all about the experience and although our instructors will be there to assist your children, mistakes can happen in the kiln. A Colorful Universe is not responsible for replacing any clay pieces that broke in our kiln.
Canvas PaintingEach child is provided with a canvas, paints, and brushes. Like our other activities, the project will correlate with the story of the week. We use acrylic paints to paint our canvases which do not come out of clothes. However, aprons are provided to protect their clothes. This is a take home project that you can hang up at home or hold onto for keepsakes.
